Boys in my house

Boys in my House
Author: Erin Jo Kilmer

There are boys in my house – and Spiderman shoes
And 200 papers in various blues.
There's Bob (he's a builder) and Thomas the Train,
There's a fireman coat to wear in the rain.
They have cars on their shirts and frogs on their hats
There's a glove and a ball and a red plastic bat.
There's dirt on a face and a smudge on a nose;
Grass stains on knees and sand between toes.
There's bathtime at night with bodies to scrub,
And when we're all done there is dirt in the tub!
There's bandaids and bruises and curious bumps,
There's smiles and laughter and sometimes there's grumps.
There's odors most icky; there's boogers so green
There's more yucky things than I'll ever get clean.
There's piles of laundry; there's stories at night;
There's bedtime and bathtime and dinnertime fights.
There's cars and there's trains and there's books about trucks
Sometimes there are bugs, and sometimes there are frogs;
Sometimes they are lions, or dinos, or dogs.
There are cute little vests and darling neckties
Dragged right through the mud – oh what a surprise!
There's running and climbing and jumping and falling
And laughing and crying and hugging and brawling
And rolling and losing and finding and creeping
And whining and stealing and sometimes there's sleeping.
There's tantrums and time outs and extra loud noise –
There's love in my house shaped like two little boys.

Out of the mouths of babes

A few of our favorites from Kellen lately.

Tyler and I were upstairs talking, and Kellen walks in and says "What's going on in here?"

Kellen was picking his nose and I asked if I could help him, he replied "hold on mom, I'll get it"

Tyler was changing Kellen's diaper and putting some desitin on his diaper rash, and Kellen says "that's my favorite cream."

I was trying to get Kellen to be quiet in his bedroom. While in the other room I hear him scream "MOM, I'M BEING QUIET!!" Yes, thank you Kellen.

When Brady wakes up from a nap, Kellen will come in and say "Hello cute boy, did you have a good sleep...Oh, you're so chubby" Exactly what I would say.

Eating dinner Kellen said that he wanted more "green balls," referring to the peas.

Each morning when Kellen wakes up, he likes to throw his hands in the air and exclaim "I didn't get out once." Apparently he forgets all the times he does get out.

January Blues

My tired little boy

Life has been what you would call "challenging" since we returned home from our Christmas holiday. It's been one of those months where I ask myself, "Can I really survive all of this?" A day after Tyler had surgery on his ankle, Kellen came down with the Flu. So I had Tyler on one couch and Kellen on the other. Kellen of course threw-up everywhere, like he always does. That kid is a professional puker. I don't know how one little body can hold so much stuff. It truly is a sight to see. After Kellen got better, he then decided he didn't like being forced to eat dinner anymore. So every night for a week, he would choose to throw it up. We finally gave up forcing him to take just one more bite. What were we thinking?
Of course, now that Kellen is better, Brady is sick. He's had a horrible cough that causes him to also vomit everything he eats. I go in during the night to feed him, and then right after, he starts coughing everything up:( I have done a jazillion loads of laundry and cleaned the carpet at least a kazillion times. All apart of motherhood right? And to top it off, our dishwasher is broken...I keep telling myself, I'm going to be an expert cleaner after all of this.
Just to share one of these wonderful days, I chose yesterday (Sunday). I had to teach in Relief Society so I wanted to get up super early and go over my lesson one more time. However, Brady woke up early because of a dirty diaper, so I changed him, without my contacts in (totally blind) and in the dark...and didn't realize his diaper had exploded everywhere...gross I know. I then nursed him and then had him regurgitate everything back on me. I was covered in poop and milk, a lovely combination. Then, on our way out of the house, I reverse right into Tyler's car parked in the driveway. Who looks back when they reverse out of a driveway? Not ME. Anyway, I'm writing this to one day look back upon and laugh at, it's also very therapeutic:) I really am so richly blessed and it hasn't been all bad. I have a wonderful husband and two healthy little boys...almost;) It's through trials that we appreciate life, and for that I am grateful. It could always be worse:)

Christmas 2010

Christmas in Utah was awesome! We traveled up on the 17th and stayed the night in Las Vegas. It turned out being a disaster because Kellen was so excited he wouldn't go to sleep in the hotel room. We wished we had just kept driving...oh well, lesson learned. A few things we did on our trip...

- Went to see David Archuleta sing with the Tabernacle Choir (Got to see the Prophet)
- Took the Grandkids to the mall to ride the train with my brother Cameron
- Went to see the lights at Temple Square on Christmas Eve
- Watched lots of Christmas movies
- Went out to Eat and Mimi's Cafe with Family
- Visited with Friends
- Had a girls night with my sister Charlotte
- Played Board Games
- Ate enough Chocolate and Candy to make me sick.
- Relaxed and stayed up late
- Returned home so Tyler could have ankle surgery:(
