Halloween Preview

I decided to make Kellen and Brady's costumes this year. It wasn't too hard actually, just took a few trips to Savers, a little cutting, sewing, and here you have it, Peter Pan and the Pirate. We had our ward "Trunk-or-Treat" party last night, so we had fun dressing them up for it.

Kellen's favorite Disney movie is Peter Pan.

Arr Maties!

Stayed up a little too late looking for buried treasure.

Watch out Brady, he's armed.

"Get off me Brady!"

Forget about Wendy, Snow White and Mrs. Carebear were Kellen's dates for the night. There was a little jealousy going on.

Mrs. Carebear, although two years older enjoyed pulling Kellen around with her. Here she is trying to bat her eyes at him.

Petting Zoo. This cow was scary. It literally tried to get out of the fence and come after us, as you can see in the next picture. We thought it was best to move on.

Thoughts on Motherhood

I have been so overcome the past couple weeks with such pure joy, that it's hard to find words to express how I feel. It's kind of like I figured out how to really enjoy all the work involved with raising two boys. I have really been trying to just focus on not letting things stress me out and just enjoying the small things. Some of my favorite moments are when I hold Brady in the rocking chair trying to get him to sleep, and I just get to cuddle him. Those are the happinest moments just relishing in the joy of having the most perfect little human in my arms and wanting that moment to last forever. I think too often I get caught up in routines and chores and then realize I haven't taken time that day to make Brady laugh, or I haven't taken time to sit and read Kellen a story. It's moments like that, that make me realize how quickly it's all going to fly by. They're getting so big and I wish I could just keep them this little forever. I don't want them to grow up. I want to always be able to rock them in my arms and hold them. I want to really cherish every minute.

Some awesome pictures taken just after Brady was born by my awesome sister-in-law Michelle.

The Sweetest Things

One of the joys of being a mother is watching your children enjoy the simple things in life, such as playing in the water.

Now he knows his ABC's...kind of.

Smiles that will melt your heart.

One crazy morning

The day after we returned home from Utah, Tyler headed to work as usual. I woke up and got the kids ready and gave them a bath and breakfast. We were just about to head out the door to run an errand, so I put Kellen's shoes on. He got very excited and began running (very dangerous for him). He tripped on his shoes and fell face first into our computer chair of all places. All I heard was a huge scream and ran over to find Kellen's eye covered in blood. I tried not to panic but I couldn't see exactly where it was coming from. I pulled down his eyelid and found a nice big cut. I managed to call Tyler at work to figure out what I should do, it was hard to hear him over Kellen's screaming. I called the Pediatrician and he told me to take him to the emergency room for either stiches or some kind of sticky glue they could put on it. Tyler told me just to take him the Urgent care down the road. So, I got the kids loaded up and headed there. When we arrived, I got out of the car and realized the Urgent Care had closed down for some reason. I got back in the car only to find out that the engine wouldn't start...are you kidding me? We then had to call Tyler to come pick us up. We sat in the hot Arizona heat for 30 minutes while we waited for Tyler. Whe Tyler arrived, he managed to get the car started again and we figured it best just to head home and give Kellen a nap, he was a wreck. In the end, we discovered Kellen's eye wasn't as bad as we originally thought so we didn't have to take him in after all. We did however take in our car, and it was a very expensive fix (Don't buy used cars). I tried to get a picture of his eye, but it was quite difficult. This is the best I could get.

Later that day at the car dealership, waiting for Tyler, we capture a full range of emotions on camera.
